WEST CORK OLDER MEMBERS CLUB
The West Cork Older Members Club was formed in 2014, following on from the successes of the Older Members committee in 2013. We meet the first and third Friday of the month in the parish hall in Clonakilty and new members are always welcome. The purpose of the club is primarily the retention of older members (16+) within Foróige. One of the major problems facing the district is the number of members leaving Foróige once they go into Transition Year. The club allows members to par-take in various citizenship projects and activities, while at the same time mentoring younger members in their own local clubs and passing on the skills that they have learned in the last few years onto a new generation of Foróige members. At present, the club is in the process of organising an exchange with a Foróige club in Dublin, the older members ball and other events and activities on a West Cork level. We are currently in need of leaders and any help on this front would be greatly appreciated.
